Aluminum Sand Casting
Class Number 190-6023
In this "hot" class, students will learn how to safely cast objects out of molten aluminum. They will walk away with the skills to make a sand mold (petrabond) and cast simple parts. Students will also learn how the knowledge gained in this class is the product of foundry technology developed over thousands of years.
RAIN cancels this class (it's held out doors and any moisture can explode the hot aluminum!). Be sure to wear "grubby" clothes and sun protection in summer. Physical work and a 35lb lift limit needed for this rugged class.
For your safety, long pants and long sleeved shirt in natural fibers are required for this class, and remember to always wear closed-toed shoes at TechShop.
