You’ve got an Arduino. You know how to program it. Now what?!

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to make your Arduino actually DO things. We’ll set up the Arduino IDE, go over some simple programming and then start experimenting!

We’ll cover how to work with information from external hardware devices including analog and digital input sources as you wire and program projects that explore how to interpret and utilize the signals that the inputs supply the Arduino. We will also cover how to control external hardware devices via digital and PWM outputs as you wire and program projects that teach the main principles of controlling hardware with information output from the Arduino. You will also learn both the hardware and software aspects of working with an LCD screen by attaching a display, feeding it information and making the display respond.

Prerequisites: Students need to have a good understanding of Arduino programming, which you can learn from the TechShop Arduino Programming class. You also need to bring a functioning Bare Bones Board & BUB, or an Arduino UNO along with the proper USB cable. The class is taught in the computer lab and PCs will be available for all students to use.

Your lab fee will pay for a display, tri-color LED, servo, breadboard, wire kit, storage box, and various small parts required for the class. They are yours to keep after class.
