STEAM539: Youth MakerBot Replicator 3D Printer SBU
Class Number 1184-53777
THIS COURSE IS FOR YOUTH AGES 8-17 ONLY!
Thanks to 3D printing, you can quickly and easily create a physical object from a computer model, literally printing the part as it goes. This is an easy way to prototype your parts before machining or injection molding.
In this class, you will learn how to import, prepare, and print your three-dimensional parts using the MakerBot Replicator 3D printer. By the end of the class, you will have all the information and knowledge necessary to use this machine for all your 3D printing needs.
The class will print a small part that TechShop has designed.
Equipment access: 3D printer
Minimum age: 8 years
Supervision requirements: When using the 3D printer outside of class time, 8- to 12-year-olds may only use equipment during "Supervised Maker Sessions" (classes and courses taught and supervised by TechShop Youth Education instructors). Members who are 12-15 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian who has passed the SBU when using the tool outside of "Supervised Maker Sessions."
