WKS007: Build a Mini Arcade Machine for Your Raspberry Pi
Class Number 1157-51589

This workshop gives you all the parts and the know-how to build a fully functional, 1/8th scale arcade cabinet using a Raspberry Pi computer as the "brains." If you have a Raspberry Pi and want to turn it into your own personal arcade, this workshop is for you.

You start with a pre-assembled oak-plywood cabinet and are guided step-by-step to install and wire: a 7" LCD screen, speakers, stereo amplifier, arcade buttons, and joystick. At the end of the class you can take your mini arcade home to paint and (best of all) add games to play!

Building the cabinet requires no technical skills or programming knowledge. As the unit is built, we will discuss basic electrical principles such as DC circuits and computer logic so you will understand the magic behind your mini arcade. It is helpful (but not vital) to have some basic electronics skills such as soldering.

*Note* Raspberry Pi (Model B 512MB) and 8 GB SD card are not included in materials fee. You will have the option of purchasing these from TechShop, or bringing your own to class.
