FIRST’s mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
This year, FIRST’s four competitions, covering students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, will reach 350,000 students on 32,650 teams. At TechShop, we are proud of our involvement with this effort.
On Thursday, January 16th, come and meet students and mentors from Westlake High School’s award-winning Chaps Robotics program as they demonstrate machines competing in this year’s FIRST Tech Challenge competition. These robots can be up to 18 inches long, wide and tall and incorporate multiple DC motors and servos in their approach to addressing this year’s FTC Challenge: Block Party. We think you'll agree with us that the work these students are doing are both exceptional and inspiring.
Free and open to the public.
